Bass Lesson Seven - Finger Positioning

Fretting Hand Finger Positioning

Finger Positioning

Playing in this way may seem tough at first but with practice the hand will grow stronger over time. It’s important to keep the fingers close to the frets when they are not being used. If the fingers are left to pull further away from the fret board it will take longer for them to be placed back on to it.

Exercise

Play through the notes displayed on the tab.

Things to think about:

• All fingers are used when fretting the strings
• Fingers are not lifting too far from the strings when not being used
